Genesis 18:9-15 NLT
“Where is Sarah, your wife?” the visitors asked. “She’s inside the tent,” Abraham replied. Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord ? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said, “No, you did laugh.”
Sara like her husband was indeed able to hear the voice of the God, she was in a place she could hear but unable to receive. She never doubted God for what God can do for anyone else but when it came to her? Well that was different. When it was time for her to pack up and move with her husband she did and showed no resistant. She may have heard too this was to happen.
Now it was time for her to exercise her faith, when she was in the “tent”, a dwelling place, a time before a house of worship was built, for the Holy Spirit to dwell. She received a message what will be done in her life she laughed, she laughed because she thought she messed up by going against God, by believing He needed her help in making His promise come to past. God doesn’ t need our help, The process is necessary.
She moved ahead and created situation that taunted her. How many times we done that? Even then a Graceful and Merciful God still Has his hands on us, and Fulfill His Promise.
Our Laugh can be a sign of disbelief, that God can indeed part red seas, tear down walls, on our behalf. When we stand as children of faith and know that He indeed dwell in us, our giants are defeated because NO WEAPON formed will prosper. What God says is mine I already have.
Sometimes we have to go down deep away from the distractions, just so we can hear, to be Divinely Connected. Aren’t you glad about Jesus? He went to great lengths to dwell in our heart. In order to be connected without interference we must give up, the stuff that blocks our ability to hear what in fact our Father is saying: Lies, gossiping, back-biting, fornication, drunkenness, doubt, unforgiveness. Then we can make a clear connection.
